Day 2 – Peter & Kylie – Koko Crater Railway Trail

December 16, 2016January 1, 2017 By admin

Well this was even more challenging than we expected.  This is not a path made for climbing, in fact it’s an abandoned railway tram-line which has fallen into disrepair (there are several signs warning it’s steep & not maintained which is reassuring!) , but is popular with locals and tourists alike for walking due to its challenging ascent and the spectacular views at the top.

It took us 40-minutes to get to the top & it was damn steep!  Kylie freaked out a bit when we had to step across railway sleepers suspended on a bridge with several meters drop below, but to her credit, she overcame her fears and reached the other side.

We met this fella on the track – apparently it’s a mongoose (he wasn’t the least shy either)

We made it!
