Today we had tickets for the Louvre and Holy Chapel or Sainte-Chapelle.
Unfortunately I was extremely ill and had to pass on going to the Louvre and Holy Chapel, I spent the day in bed.
Peter, Silvia and John went out after Peter recovered from his champagne hangover
Shots of the Seine River on the way to the chapel:
Sainte-Chapelle is a royal chapel in the Gothic style, within the medieval Palais de la Cité, the residence of the Kings of France until the 14th century, on the Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris, France.
Begun some time after 1238 and consecrated on 26 April 1248, the Sainte-Chapelle is considered among the highest achievements of the Rayonnant period of Gothic architecture. It was commissioned by King Louis IX of France to house his collection of Passion relics, including Christ’s Crown of Thorns—one of the most important relics in medieval Christendom.
Along with the Conciergerie, the Sainte-Chapelle is one of the earliest surviving buildings of the Capetian royal palace on the Île de la Cité. Although damaged during the French Revolution, and restored in the 19th century, it has one of the most extensive 13th-century stained glass collection anywhere in the world.
After marvelling at the chapel, we headed for the Louvre:
The collection is vast and you could spend days admiring it. There are several levels, each containing artifacts and art from around the world:
I think I nailed the smile (do you agree?)

Hi A Louise, I’ll keep practicing the smile (LOL). We are in Rome at the moment and everything is great (hotel, weather, sightseeing amazing). Kylie is much better now (I’m still drowning in wine and champagne every night which works a treat – no bugs can survive that!). Hope the weather has settled down in Aussie now (it’s around 14 degrees here and just comfortable – over the ice and snow and freezing winds earlier in the trip). Santorini was fantastic (we defrosted and the food was lovely – not to mention the Greek hospitality). Lots of love, Peter & Kylie xo
