Today we had to rock up at the Australian Embassy by 9am to get our emergency passports.
We then checked out of the hotel and got on the train to the airport.
We were flying Lufthansa again to Japan via Frankfurt and I was hoping that we would have a really good flight like we did from San Franciso to Munich but no such luck! We had the crappy’s seats! Peter & I were stuck in a row of 4 seats with two Asian ladies on either side of us so that when we needed to go to the loo we had to wake them up. I guess that couldn’t be helped given the plane was full & we were late booking.
The seat in front of me had some sort of metal box on the floor and so I couldn’t stretch my legs out fully. It was very cramped and we didn’t sleep very well on this flight. The food wasn’t as good as the other flight either. The service was the same.
We arrived in Tokyo and when we went through Customs, because we had emergency passports they didn’t quite know what to do. So we got taken to a room while they checked the passports. We weren’t in there very long but it’s a bit scary being asked to go to a room at the airport!
We collected our luggage and Peter discovered one of his wheels had been snapped off by one of the luggage handlers, so the suitcase no longer stood vertically anymore and was a pain to roll as you had to keep in on the two working wheels.
We caught the train to Shinjuku and then had to find out hotel (we were both exhausted by this time). Once we found our hotel I don’t think we would have lost it again! The hotel had a massive Godzilla head on it! Why? Who the hell knows?
By the time we got to the hotel & had a shower we had to find somewhere to eat dinner because we had tickets that night for the Robot Restaurant.
Around the corner from the hotel we found a place that had noodles & dumplings. Out the front they have a vending machine & you have to put your money in & place your order via the vending machine. It then spits the tickets out & you go inside & give the tickets to the staff behind the counter. The food was really nice & it was something different after all the pasta in Rome.
This show was very very Japanese! (it was like we were inserted into a Japanese anime cartoon). It was full of remote controlled robots and singing & dancing (watch the video, it was too hard to take photos). The show was enjoyable but we were very tired after flying for 15hrs so it was a bit overwhelming.
You wouldn’t want to be epileptic in this place!
This is the bar where we had a pre-show drinks and Peter had some complimentary saki
