Day 19 – Arriving in Paris

January 2, 2017January 15, 2017 By admin

We arrived at the airport in Iceland to utter chaos! Everyone seemed to be leaving to go home!

We stood in line for over 1/2hr just to drop our bags. We then had to go through security. The Icelanders just sort of stood there. They were really not helpful at all! Not a very good experience!

Silvia & John were not feeling well and I was starting to get a sore throat. Peter was the only one of us that was well!

We finally got on the plane after walking out to the tarmac in the cold and rain and standing on the stairs waiting while everyone got themselves organised. We took off late as usual!

We arrived in Paris late and proceeded to the train station. We had to catch a train from the airport to Gare du Nord train station where we then had to catch a local train to a station near our hotel.

We got to Gare du Nord and can I say I hate Paris! I compared our experience on the London tube to our experience in Paris and Paris was terrible! There was no-one to ask questions of or help us. The arrogance of people is astounding! We had to try and figure out what line to go on to catch our train to our hotel.

We had planned to go to the Eiffel Tower & Notre Dame that afternoon but it took us about 2.5hrs to get from the airport to our hotel. That’s how bad it was trying to work out the train system!

Anyway we eventually got to our hotel, the only good thing about Paris! It has a cinema theme and it was really modern & funky. When we got there they had afternoon tea in the lobby, which was great as we hadn’t eaten lunch yet.

Silvia and John went to bed, poor things, as Silvia was quite ill. Peter and I went out to dinner, even though I wasn’t feeling well.
