We drove to a town called Oberammergauer. This town is very famous for their Passion Plays that occur every 10 years. The people who act in the plays are apparently very dedicated. Once they are chosen to play a part they are not allowed to cut their hair for 5 years.
The buildings around the town also have beautiful paintings on them, some of them depicting Grimm fairy tales. Also, the town is famous for it’s wood carvings (the roots of Oberammergau’s wood carvings go back to the Middle Ages). Today there are about 120 wood sculptors in this town actively carving and selling a large variety of wooden artifacts, from figures of saints to household goods.
